WideBand Corporation was created to develop, manufacture, and market a line of high performance networking products based on the WideCast channels technology, which I invented and patented several years ago. While WideBand networking equipment is compatible with conventional Ethernet equipment, it has the advantage of very low latency. In fact, latencies on the WideBand concentrators are two orders of magnitude lower than on competing Ethernet switches.
With the increased interest in IP telephones and IP video conferencing, low latency has become a crucial network industry requirement. In the past several months, we have received numerous inquiries to purchase our patents in this field. We have also responded to a request for a proposal from the United States navy to create low latency networks for emergency command and control systems. The Navy is considering deployment of this technology in the emergency command system for the Executive and Chief in case of a national crisis.
